In the sitting area overlooking the garden, paintings of graceful Balinese dancers adorn the walls, amid large, plush sofas. It was as if I’d stepped foot into the hall of a Balinese royalty’s summer residence.

No less impressive are the rooms—private sanctums where the Bali experience begins and ends. “Our rooms take inspiration from the traditional Bali Aga culture blended with modern amenities to give guests both superior comfort and an experience of the rich Balinese culture,” says Anvaya’s Resort and Service Manager, Ayin Purwati.

During my stay, I had the privilege of staying in the exquisite Premier Lagoon Access room. This spacious sanctuary blended contemporary elegance with the essence of Hindu Bali culture. A king-size bed promised restful slumbers, but the allure of Bali’s beauty was hard to resist. After all, who would want to stay in bed surrounded by the island’s inviting beauty? Fortunately, my room granted me direct access to a tranquil 1.2-meter deep lagoon pool, allowing me to immerse myself in refreshing waters shaded by the garden’s lush foliage.

For honeymooning couples seeking seclusion, The Anvaya Suite Whirlpool offers unparalleled privacy. This expansive 117 square meter accommodation features a private whirlpool and modern amenities tailor-made for romantic moments. With stunning views of verdant gardens and a pool deck adorned with a comfortable sofa, intimacy and tranquility are at their fingertips.

The Anvaya Villa provides unrivaled comfort within its sprawling 440-square meter expanse, catering to those in pursuit of pure luxury. With two bedrooms featuring separate bathrooms, showers, and a sprawling day bed on the private balcony, guests are treated to breathtaking ocean views. The master bedroom, adorned with a balcony and plush sofa, maximizes views of the lush tropical gardens and sparkling Indian Ocean.

I even learned how to weave a fetching Balinese hat made of coconut leaves with the guidance of an expert staff member. through the breadth of the resort.

Of course, the resort’s private beachfront makes for the perfect spot to rekindle one’s connection with the sea, go beachcombing, or simply sit and watch the mesmerizing sunset with an exotic cocktail in hand.

I also had an amazing opportunity to immerse myself in the dining experiences offered by The Anvaya Beach Resort Bali, which truly epitomize the essence of Bali’s culinary heritage. With a harmonious blend of modern seaside dining and the cherished tradition of communal feasting, the resort takes guests on a remarkable gastronomic journey that both delights and nourishes the senses.
One of the highlights of this extraordinary food trip is The Sands Restaurant, a captivating venue overlooking the Indian Ocean that boasts one of Bali’s most sought-after vistas.
The Sands Restaurant beckons guests with its open-kitchen concept, where the aromas of freshly prepared dishes permeate the air. Here, the interactive all-day dining experience gives visitors the unique opportunity to engage with highly skilled chefs and even try their hand at cooking under their expert guidance. The market-place atmosphere adds an extra layer of excitement, making every visit a memorable culinary adventure.

For those seeking an authentic taste of Bali, Kunyit Restaurant presents itself as an ideal introduction to the traditional delicacies of the island and the broader Indonesian archipelago. The name “Kunyit,” derived from the Indonesian word for turmeric, pays homage to one of the key ingredients used in many beloved local culinary creations.

A steaming bowl of soto ayam Lamongan, tantalizing Indonesian chicken soup adorned with delicate glass noodles in a remarkably flavorful broth, introduced my taste buds to the wonderful treats that Kunyit offers. The tender chicken, infused with the medley of flavors—courtesy of fragrant herbs and spices, such as turmeric, coriander, lemongrass, ginger, and galangal—made for a heartwarming starter.

No Indonesian feast would be complete without a hefty serving of beef rendang, which is chunks of beef slowly simmered in a rich blend of Indonesian spices. At Kunyit, this rich stew (a culinary gem originating from the Minangkabau ethnic group in West Sumatra) is served alongside fragrant steamed rice and green sambal. Needless to say, I savored every bite of this time-honored dish passed down through generations.

The restaurant also pays homage to a dining tradition that dates back to ancient times by offering an array of dishes that embody Bali Aga’s cherished family-style dining. One such enchanting indulgence is the Megibung Tenganan, a captivating feast designed for two or more individuals. This culinary extravaganza presents an enticing selection of grilled prawns, succulent fish fillets, aromatic chicken betutu, an assortment of satay skewers, liver fritters, and an array of delectable desserts. It was a remarkable experience, where the act of sharing food became a symbol of unity and celebration.

Every night, diners at Kunyit Restaurant are entertained by traditional Balinese dances—some telling age-old epics, while others depict customs that have shaped the islanders’ way of life and worship. As the hypnotic beat of the gamelan filled the air, graceful women in bright costumes, or masked men in ornate garbs, retell the stories of Bali through movement and music. This nightly spectacle, the aroma and flavors of fine food, and the warm service allowed me to fully immerse myself in the rich tapestry of Balinese culture at Kunyit Restaurant.
