For too long, tourists in the paradise island of Boracay have been accustomed only to the all too familiar stretch of White Beach and its environs. Few realize that the island cradles more vicinities that hold further wonder and magic. Such is the Boracay Newcoast—a sprawling 150-hectare of rolling hills, grassy knolls, and isolated coves. At the heart of this master planned township by Megaworld in Brgy. Yapak is the modern Savoy Hotel Boracay.
Cutting an imposing presence against the surrounding greenery, Savoy Hotel Boracay has a spare, linear design devoid of flamboyant details. But inside, the lobby presents a vibrant yet welcoming space that comes alive with a splash of colors—from the purple concave reception to the pillows on the seats with vivid tropical prints. An all-white installation, appearing like the configuration of a coral-like structure, forms an awning to envelope the lobby.
And colors do add a splash of vitality to the tasteful accommodations. Although the rooms have immaculate walls and blonde wood furniture, accents of colors from the bright paintings and the cerulean pillows and couches create a lively and cheerful space. “Our slogan is ‘Color Your Experience’ so the vibe of the rooms has an unmistakable resort feel,” says the hotel’s GM, Mr. Elmar Lina.
Of course, the rooms are outfitted with a host of creature comforts such as the flat screen cable TV, plush beds, coffee and tea making amenity, and a mini ref. “The rooms have verandas that offer a stunning view of either the sprawling golf course, or the Party and the Chambery pools. The rooms measure from 24 sqm for a Deluxe Room to 45 sqm for an Executive Suite,” informs Lina.
Food is another attraction that makes holidays at Savoy Hotel Boracay such indulgent experiences. Savoy Café is an elegant dining venue with black marble top tables and seats in lively colors of saffron with large throw pillows in lime and berry. It offers a wide array of international culinary options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Also available are private room dining and an open kitchen showcase. Guests can witness live cooking, food displays, and even cooking classes for those who wish to expand their culinary skills.
Chambery Pool has the Zabana Bar where guests can have cocktails, or their favorite spirit in an outdoor setting. Here, one can have his fill of barbecues and other grilled treats every weekend while enjoying the beats from a live DJ every Saturday.
The Vienne Lobby Lounge is a chic hang out with colorful seats and hanging cane pods. A laidback dining, social and business hub, it serves breakfast, pre-lunch, and snacks for dine-in or to go. Depending on the time of the day, guests may also enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, chilled fresh juices, premium wines, champagnes, and cocktails.
Guests at Savoy Hotel Boracay have, not just one, but three Newcoast beaches to explore and enjoy. All are laced with the fine white sand and caressed clear, blue waters that have made Boracay world famous. Cove 2 in the center is the most accessible and liveliest where one may enjoy non-motorized water sports such as kayaking, paddle boarding, aqua Zumba, or a game of frisbee on the beach.
After swimming, head on to Newcoast Beach Bar and luxuriate under a beach umbrella while enjoying a cool drink. For a truly great time by the beach, enjoy your favorite cocktail or heady drink during Happy Hour from 3 to 5 pm.
For those who wish to bask in the serenity of Boracay’s quiet shores, Cove 1 and 2 offer secluded hideaways without the crowd. Here, the sea and the rustling leaves of the coconut palms make for a relaxing haven amid the beauty of nature.
“The habagat season between June to October actually works to our advantage because during this time, the sea on our side of the island is calm and the wind is gentler,” informs Lina.
Of course, if you’re in the mood for a cool dip, Savoy Hotel’s capacious pool is the perfect place for endless laps in a setting with colorful tropical murals. Or you can simply laze in the lounge chairs while sipping on the chilled drink of your choice.
While having fun seems to be the major point of going on a holiday, some travel for business and Boracay has always been on top of the list as a preferred MICE destination. “For conventions—and large private events—the hotel has a ballroom which can accommodate up to 150 people,” Lina points out.
For smaller gatherings, Savoy Hotel has three smaller meeting rooms which can accommodate up to 20 people. With the walls collapsed, 60 people can be accommodated for bigger meetings. Vienne Lobby Lounge can also double as a casual function room that has a perfect view of the pool. For that purpose, it can comfortably fit 80 persons.
On its last leg of construction is Boracay Walk—one of the main features of Newcoast Boracay. Once finished, it will start from Savoy Hotel and will run the length of between the neighboring Belmont Boracay Hotel and Chancellor Hotel to stretch as far the shores of Cove 2. As a long shopping belt, it will have shops, boutiques, restaurants, food outlets, and convenience stores running along its length. Boracay Walk is aimed at attracting more visitors to Newcoast and providing retail spaces for both homegrown and international brands. This will likewise amplify the vision of Boracay Newcoast as a well-rounded township.
At the core of Savoy Hotel Boracay’s operation is heartfelt and genuine service. This is expressed in the warm smiles and gentle voices of everyone who works in the hotel. Here, the staff greet guests with the “Mabuhay gesture”—the act of putting the right hand across the chest, and with a small bow say a cheerful “Mabuhay!”
“Everyone here practices the ‘Mabuhay gesture.’ This, we believe, reflects the inherent Filipino trait of courtesy and politeness. This Filipino brand of service, which aims for excellence and seeks the satisfaction of guests, is carried out across all the Megaworld hotels and resorts,” points out Lina.
This brand of service, along with the topnotch amenities, great flavors, and the perpetual beauty of Boracay’s coast, does color the Savoy Hotel Boracay experience with utmost pleasure and unforgettable memories.
